How to Care for Deep Cycle UMPC, NetBook & MID Battery

Control the amount you discharge your UMPC, NetBook & MID Battery and don't discharge more than necessary. Deep cycle batteries are typically able to discharge as much as 80 percent of their stored power without suffering damage to their internal chemistry, but this greatly shortens their lifespan. If you can limit your UMPC, NetBook & MID Battery's average discharge to 50 percent, it will last about twice as long. Limit the average discharge to 20 percent, and it may last 10 times as long.

Recharge your UMPC, NetBook & MID Battery as soon after use as you are able. If your charger does not have the ability to regulate itself, then monitor the charging process, as deep cycle batteries are susceptible to damage if they are overcharged. If possible, use a variable-voltage charger that can track your battery's energy level and adjust the charging voltage accordingly, as this will improve your UMPC, NetBook & MID Battery's efficiency and lifespan.

Keep your UMPC, NetBook & MID Battery fully charged when it is not in use.

Store your deep cycle UMPC, NetBook & MID Battery in a charger, if practical. Otherwise, "top off" your battery on a regular basis, every month.
